Welo Ethiopian hydrophane opal mineral specimen with an amazing play of color. Not only that, but this piece could make a very fine cutting material. While there is a cut gem in the rough, this piece may need to be cut into two pieces, as there is a crack in the center of the piece that goes part of the way in that will need to be either carved out or split, which would leave either a thinner single gem or two smaller gems. That said, if you're not looking to carve or cut this piece, it will make a great specimen! Watch Video to see the play of color and full view of this opal.
We recommend that this opal material NOT be submerged in water (unless it is being cut, water will keep it cool), and it should never have any oils applied to it. Also, due to the hydrophane nature of this opal, the weight can vary slightly with humidity. We consider this to be a Thumbnail (TN) sized specimen.
